The latest experimental language model created by Google
About Google LaMDA
LaMDA, short for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, is the latest experimental language model created by Google.
"At this year’s I/O conference, the company showed videos of two short conversations conducted with the model. In the first, LaMDA answered questions while pretending to be Pluto, and in the second it was standing in for a paper airplane. As Pichai noted, the model was able to refer to concrete facts and events throughout the conversation, like the New Horizons probe that visited Pluto in 2015. (For some strange reason, both Pichai and LaMDA-Pluto erroneously referred to Pluto as a planet! It is, of course, a dwarf planet.)"
Last year, an employee made headlines after declaring the LaMDA chatbot sentient and getting fired shortly afterwards.
